William Nathan Jones, 18, of 1050 Caudill Lane in Walnut Cove, was arrested shortly after the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m., on charges that he had entered his grandmother’s residence on Valley Drive Monday morning without permission. [...]

When Jones’ mother entered the home and discovered her son and his friends consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana, said Sheriff David Grice, she pulled out a pistol in order to detain them so they could be arrested. As Jones attempted to leave the residence in a green Pontiac Sunfire, she shot into the door and tire of the vehicle, deputies say. [...]

According to a warrant, Jones helped himself to two Hot Pockets and a bottle of Crown Royal liquor while he was in the home.
